FTL Moda Kids Collection Showcase

On September 10th, 2016, FTL Moda presented its first official Kids Collection Showcase during NYFW. Moka Collection, Aisabobo and Blu & Blue made their debut this season, and Lulu Et Gigi from France returned for its second runway show. The show was co-produced by Posh Kids Magazine and sponsored by URBANI Truffle, Kartell, Tequila Pasion, Acqua Rocchetta, Antinori, Divino Gelato and Neuro. The event took place at Space 404, featuring high tech gadgets and the new virtual reality by Samsung.

In a standout collection, Moka presented beautiful formal but playful pieces for boys and girls. Designer Zalia Ribau and her daughter Nicole Teotonio are based in Toronto, Canada, where Zalia has been a children’s wear designer for over 35 years. Her work in children’s clothing has gained accolades over the years for its attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship. MOKA is 100% Canadian produced and uses the finest European fabrics from Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Austria and France.

Designer Zalia told us in an interview that she started her career designing women’s wear. But then when she became a mother, she saw a lack of children’s clothing on the market. She started making clothes for her son, and slowly people around her started noticing his clothes.  “People would come asking to me to make clothes for their children …  My son is now 38 years old!” said Zalia.

Zalia’s latest collection focuses on bringing serenity to life. “There are so many things happening in the world. Everything was so confusing, especially in politics and day to day life… I wanted a collection that is gorgeous and elegant but also very simple and easy to care, to create serenity in life,” said Zalia. She said she spent a lot of time perfecting the fabrication and cut of the dress, to create a special cut for each piece.

Moka is highly recommended for mothers who are in their 30’s and up who appreciate the design and quality of their own clothing and want to reflect that onto their kids. To find out more about the brand and collection, visit their website at http://www.mokacollection.com/.
